Very few is written on these glorious days of Indian History. And very few history is written the way Aneesh writes it - like a story coming alive in your mind. I will recommend this book as must read for every Indian and for history lovers world over.

..a captivating read of lesser known Maratha history (post Shivaji)..a colourful description of Afghan empire rising in the same time period is equally interesting..surely a commendable job by a young historical novelist..

It's evident that Aneesh has put in a lot of efforts into researching the topic. Also, most historical novels are either too rigidly structured, thus inducing boredom, or are too flowery which distracts one from the main subject. This novel has managed to dodge both which is a testament not just to Aneesh's command over the language, but also to his understanding of History as a subject.
