I spent my childhood in Satara and bought this e-book out of great curiosity when I saw it here. I was somewhat disappointed when I saw the contents.
The history and information provided in it, though not incorrect, is very scanty. Some more diligent research, like consulting the Gazetteer of Satara District, published by the British Rulers in 1885 and several other easily available books, would have yielded much more useful information.
The late GR Mate, a school-teacher of Satara, had published in the 1970's, his book ‘Asa Ghadala Satara’. The title of the book under review here is a duplication of the same title. I had read that older book too, and, in my opinion, it is a far better book from the point of view of someone who would like to know more about the past days of Satara.
