सोविएत संघराज्याचं विघटन झाल्यानंतर रशियात निर्माण झाली निर्नायकी. रशियाला साम्यवादाच्या जोखडापासून जास्तीत जास्त दूर नेण्याच्या नादात बोरिस येल्त्सिन यांनी अनेक प्रयोग केले. ते बहुतांशी फसले; तथापि व्लादिमीर पुतिन यांना सत्तेच्या सिंहासनावर बसवण्याचा प्रयोग मात्र अपवाद ठरला.

खूपच छान पुस्तक
लेखकांची लिहण्याची शैली एवढी चांगली आहे की.
कुठेच कंटाळा येत नाही.
यांचे लोकसत्ता मधील लेख एवढे चांगले असतात. त्यांची लिहण्याची पद्धत एवढी चंगली आहे की त्यामुळेच मी त्यांची पुस्तके वाचण्याचा ठरवलंय. त्यात पुतीन हे माझं पाहिलं पुस्तक.

गिरीश कुबेर ह्यांच्या पत्रकारितेच्या दीर्घ अनुभवामुळे पुस्तकाची सुरवातीची भाषा हि वर्तनमानपत्रातील संपादकीय वाचल्यासारखे वाटते.
तरीही,पुढे पुढे वाचत जाताना खुपच मजा येते.संपूर्ण पुस्तकावर विवेचनात्मक लेखनाचा प्रभाव दिसतो.
हे पुस्तक त्या मध्ये वर्णन केलेल्या घटनांचे अगदी सखोल वर्णन करत नसले तरीही वाचनीय आहे.
प्रकाशनाने हे पुस्तक अगदी हलक्या दर्जाच्या स्वरूपात छापलेले आहे हि खंत व्यक्त करणे गरजेचे आहे.
प्रत्येक विवेकवादी व्यक्तीला आवडेल असेच हे पुस्तक आहे.

First thing I am fan of Girish Kuber as author & other thing the name of this book itself was hinting me that it is must read & I should grab a copy.
Indeed book turned out to be the mind blowing read. Reading book creates momentum in your mind that you can't stop reading it. Every time there was a excitement that what would happen next? Several time I continued reading till 1.00 AM.
Story-telling is an art & Girish Kuber is master of that. I was having very different image of Putin as a head of a nation. But after this read, this book changed my perception. Book gives very important message - How nationalism is used as a diversion tool. Putin also used card of nationalism to divert Russia. This biography is pure is masterpiece by Girish Kuber & it is available in Marathi.

Typical 'Girish Kuber' style writing..(Lot of Sarcasm with information, but not as enjoyable as previous works of the author) in terms of content, this book is obviously great (But not as finest as previous books written by same author).Also in terms of continuity, more efforts compared to previous books of the same author are needed from reader as well to engage himself in the book.
Given that the book is written on 'Putin' himself, lots of things still remains questioned or 'Not still clear' even after finishing this book (again unlike all the previous books)..But at least some blur picture is better than having 'No Clarity' at all...So I have to put this book in a 'Must read' Category only.
