'स्वाध्याय'प्रणेते पांडुरंगशास्त्री आठवले यांच्या जीवनकार्यावर आधारित 'देह झाला चंदनाचा' ही कादंबरी धर्माबरोबरच सामाजिक आणि नैतिकतेचा वेध घेते. पांडुरंगशास्त्री आठवले यांच्या जीवनप्रवासाबरोबर त्यांचे तत्वज्ञान सामान्यांसाठी मार्गदर्शक आहे. धर्माचा वापर होऊ नये, असं ते हिरीरीनं मांडतात. मानवी जगण्याला नैतिकतेचं अधिष्टान असावं, सांस्कृतिक मुल्यांचा निर्नोद्धार व्हावा, अशी त्यांची तळमळ आहे. हे साधायचा असेल, तर प्रवाहाविरुद्ध जाण्याचं धाडस करायला हवं, असं ते म्हणतात. लेखक राजेंद्र खेर यांनी ओघवत्या भाषेत हे मांडलं आहे.

Best Book, Everyone Must read.
Must read book for every youth. Such great work Dadaji had done. Rajendra Kher nicely written.

Best book. Dadaji in himself is (I won't say was)a great person. and the writer's language makes a movie in front of our eyes.
