Summary of the Book
‘Zaroka’ is a particular kind of architectural element, like a sajja or gawaksha that brings in the beam of light into the interior space. The book, which is well illustrated with B/W and color photographs, sketches, and diagrams, contains essays on architecture, written by the author since 1982.
The essays investigate what shapes architectural thought and sensibilities today. The author who has taught architecture in India and abroad since 1974 has explored the feeling, conceptual thinking and association with history, environment and society, in his capacity as an academic as well as practicing professional, with the hope of understanding the tangible and the non tangible in architecture.
The book is divided into three chapters which are 1. The Eloquent Elements ( Bolke Ghatak) 2. Studying Aesthetics ( Roopavdh) and 3. Heritage (Varsa).
