Summary of the Book
The narrator a twelve-year-old girl, leaves her beloved grandmother in Mainland China on an emergency visit to her own family in Hong Kong. As she unexpectedly settles down in this strange new places, she experiences many ups and downs in her life and a strong sense of displacement from the family and country she has left behind. After months of an agonised existence, she resolves to overcome this identity confusion and become who she really is-a person in her own right, proud of her mainland Chinese heritage. Written in free verse poems, Bungee Cord Hair, sequel to Tofu Quilt, is a powerful story of the victory of the human spirit against all odds.
