Chandausi Junction by Shankar and Preeti Sahay is well narrated and light. Very enjoyable and brought back memories. Each story is unique and convey a message. As one reads the story, readers will often find themselves connecting to tales from their life. Kudos to the authors for keeping the narrative very simple and let the tales take over.

Chandausi junction is a must read for all readers to know about the India of an earlier age! For folks who have lived through those times, it is an opportunity to reminisce. And for those who were born later, it is a peek into the past. Without drifting into "those were the days" mode, it was surely an age of innocence. Chandausi Junction brings back that innocence with a freshness in each of its stories. It scores on a lot of points- a narrative which is easy to read, pictures of select words, and last but not the least, with a subtle moral in each story.
They say...do not judge a book by its cover! I would beg to differ! The title and the picture on the cover are spot-on! If there is one imagery that connects the country as a whole, it is the train. That ribbon of rail goes across the length and breadth of India. These stories may appear to be UP centric. However, from Malgudi to Moradabad- every Indian can empathize with them! A very nice compilation of short stories in simple language, enjoyed reading. While some had a humorous touch, others were inspirational.
It also depicts the livelihood lead by our ancestors; an eye opener for the younger generation. Many items used in that era as a necessity could now be seen as an antique pieces displayed in the showrooms and has a decorative purpose.

Shankar n Preeti----You have killed many birds with one stone only by writing this book. It's a wonderful collection of short n informative stories written in an interesting n inspiring way. The best thing i like is that it is for all age groups n easily understood with the help of pics. The title of the book is more fascinating to me as Chandausi is my birth place.
Wish both of you good luck.

This was a warm, cozy trip down the memory lane. Be it the old lady and her daughter in law foiling robbers or two sibling having an impromptu contest or two cousins one from village and other from city finding strange things when they visit each other. The double decker took the cake. This book made me wonder why we don't have more such simple and touching tales. Glad I bought this book.
