Summary of the Book
“My cousin just banged me! Because I didn’t book a ticket to his place…”
“That’s the reason?”
“Yeah, he can’t just bang me for nothing, no?”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I can’t just call her and say wassup, wassup, nothing much, nothing much.”
“ABCD-speak, huh?”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Really? In spite of your being an American?”
“Skin speaks louder than a passport.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Think Again is set in a contemporary generic university town in the USA. The story is the journey of Lavanya and her friends, mostly Indian graduate students, and the edifying turbulence that the assimilation of Nayan, an ABCD, into their lives brings about. As the motley group bonds, numerous long-held notions get systematically dismantled, altering world-views and generating considerable merriment.

Biography:

Yamini Menon, born and raised in India, is deeply interested in environment-conservation, cuisines, cultures, and languages. Her favorite pastimes are travelling, reading, and dancing. She studied and worked in the United States for several years, and now lives in India.
-----------------------------------------------------

The characters are flesh and blood - it felt like I was a part of all their discussions, and looked forward to meeting them every evening. The author skillfully weaves socially relevant topics into the story. The book produced laughs, food for thought, as well as a sense of belonging.
Realistic, fun, and a lively portrayal of contemporary relationships and their complications. A welcome distraction from the heaviness and mundaneness of daily life and its dreariness.
I found a kindred spirit in the protagonist, Lavanya. I think she is a great role model for people who are trying to lead environmentally conscious lives in the modern world, and asking questions about how much tradition is still relevant.
Witty, stimulating dialogues, delightful characters and an endearing romance. A book you couldn't keep down!
