Summary of the Book
`गृहिणीमित्र अथवा हजार पाकक्रिया’ हा या विविधकलानिपुण लेखिकेने लिहिलेला अनुभवसिद्ध ग्रंथ, म्हणजे गेल्या काही पिढ्यांतील महाराष्ट्रीय भगिनींचा पाककलेवरील नित्योपयोगी आधार ग्रंथ.
शाकाहारी, मत्स्याहारी व मांसाहारी अशा सर्व भिन्नरुची पाककृतींबरोबरच आजारी व्यक्तींसाठी दिलेले पथ्यकर पदार्थ हे या ग्रंथाचे विशेष होत.
1910 साली प्रथम प्रसिद्ध झालेल्या या पुस्तकाच्या यापूर्वीच एकोणीस आवृत्त्या खपल्या, हेच याच्या उपयुक्ततेचे गमक म्हटले पाहिजे.
डिसेंबर, 1968 मध्ये निघालेली सोळावी आवृत्ती संपल्यावर, तेरा वर्षे हे पुस्तक दुर्मिळ होत. मूळ लेखिका कै. लक्ष्मीबाई धुरंधर यांनी 70 वर्षांपूर्वी लिहिलेल्या ह्या पुस्तकाची 19वी आवृत्ती त्यांच्या नातसून श्रीमती सुधा गोरक्षकर यांनी परिश्रमपूर्वक संकलित व संस्कारित केली होती. आता ही 20 वी आवृत्ती प्रसिद्ध होत आहे. आजच्या महाराष्ट्रीय गृहिणी तिचे यथोचित स्वागत करतीलच.

I own a hard-bound original published in March 1930. This 4th edition has all pages intact and contains the preface written in October 1910. Mrs. Gorakshakar's graduation photo from Scotland authenticates the copy. A British woman named Rachel Edith Aiman bought the book for 1 Rupee 12 Annas in January 1932. She obviously knew Marathi and tried several recipes. I will contact a restoration agency to bind the book. The original publisher was परचुरे पुराणिक आणि मंडळी.

This book was gifted to my mother by Laximibai way back in 20s preserved it a long long time unfortunately the pages turned yellow and tore at many places. Mother use to read the recipes to me and to keep in mind the authenticity of Pathare Prabhu recipes, I remember some of them but like to own a copy of it.
